John Mifsud

Vice President

john@madisonplanning.com

John works closely with individuals and families to help them prepare for retirement, clarify financial goals, and navigate life’s inevitable transitions with confidence. His day-to-day focus is on listening first—understanding each client’s unique circumstances, concerns, and aspirations—so he can present thoughtful, well-rounded solutions that align with both their needs and values. Above all, John wants clients to feel heard, respected, and supported, knowing their goals are the true priority and that every available option has been carefully considered on their behalf.

Before entering the financial planning industry, John spent nearly 20 years as a business owner, an experience that deeply shapes how he serves clients today. He understands firsthand the realities of change, the cycles of life, and the importance of aligning expectations with reality. After stepping away from his own business due to personal and health challenges, he learned the value of adaptability—adjusting goals and actions as circumstances evolve. Through this journey, he also witnessed a common challenge among fellow business owners: many reached retirement without adequate savings, without fully considering the implications of selling a business, or without the benefit of traditional retirement plans common in corporate careers. These experiences give him a unique perspective and a deep sense of empathy for business owners and retirees alike.

John officially began working in the financial services industry in September 2025, following a conversation with Gary that started over coffee and ultimately led him to Madison Planning Group. Although he had long been interested in the field dating back to his college years, it was the firm’s family-oriented culture and client-first approach that truly resonated with him. Unlike the impersonal, transactional model many assume defines this industry, he found a practice grounded in compassion, understanding, and long-term relationships—an environment where helping clients achieve peace of mind is the ultimate goal.

A graduate of Pace University, John holds a degree in Business Management. He previously owned and operated a family Boar’s Head distribution business in Manhattan before expanding operations to Connecticut, experiences that strengthened his operational insight and entrepreneurial mindset.

Outside of work, John’s world centers on his family—his wife Randi, his high school crush, and their three children, William, Douglas, and Lucy. Much of his personal advocacy is devoted to supporting academic rights for children with special needs, inspired by his two sons, who are autistic. He is also deeply committed to community service, regularly directing excess food to organizations in need and working closely with his church’s Midnight Run Program. These commitments reflect the same values he brings to his professional life: service, compassion, and a belief that meaningful impact comes from helping others navigate life with dignity and care.
